Tooba Salam, MSW II Intern (Located virtually in MA, PA, VA,NJ AND FL)
Tooba Salam is a graduate-level therapy intern who works with children, teens, young adults, adults, and couples. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The Ohio State University and is currently completing her Master’s degree there as well.
Tooba’s therapeutic approach is warm, empathetic, and culturally sensitive. She believes that each person’s identity, background, and lived experiences play an important role in shaping how they understand themselves and the world around them. Her goal is to meet clients where they are and create a safe, supportive space where they feel heard, respected, and understood. Tooba values collaboration and works alongside clients to build insight, strengthen coping skills, and develop practical strategies that fit their unique lives.
Tooba often works with individuals who feel overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or are navigating difficult life transitions. Her clients may be experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related concerns, relationship challenges, or emotional ups and downs. While they may not have all the answers yet, they are open to reflection, growth, and making meaningful changes at a pace that feels comfortable. Together, Tooba and her clients focus on improving emotional regulation, communication, self-awareness, and confidence, with the goal of helping clients feel more grounded, empowered, and aligned with their values.
Tooba specializes in working with concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship and intimacy issues, family conflict, grief and loss, self-esteem, motivation, career stress, parenting challenges, and life transitions. She also has a strong interest in supporting clients navigating cultural, identity-related, and LGBTQ+ concerns. Her clinical approach is integrative and client-centered, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness-based approaches, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Therapy.
